SwitchBot officially unveiled its latest smart lock, “SwitchBot Lock Ultra Max,” at IFA 2026. The initial rollout will target the EU and UK, and no Japan launch has been announced at this time.
SwitchBot officially unveiled the SwitchBot Lock Ultra Max to coincide with IFA 2026, one of the world's largest consumer electronics trade shows. As the successor to the current model, it is a new-generation smart lock with enhanced existing features. The announcement positions the EU and UK as the initial markets for the rollout.
No official rollout in Japan has been announced at this time, and because the compatible lock standards are based on European specifications, it cannot be confirmed that the product will be launched in Japan as-is. The EU and UK are expected to remain the focus of the company's overseas expansion priorities.
The product is built around six MAX features: Max Fit, Max Access, Max Speed, Max Reliability, Max Security and Max Awareness. Its body design is also positioned as a feature, combining an add-on installation format with a premium look and feel.
The powertrain uses the newly developed UltraDrive brushless motor, substantially increasing speed over the current model. Unlocking takes as little as 1.1 seconds when Max Mode is selected. Power comes from a 4,200mAh main battery, which provides approximately 9 months of operation, with a CR123A battery serving as backup power. In emergencies, Micro-Power Unlock is designed to support up to 5 emergency unlocks.
