Sumida Corporation has developed an automotive rotary angle sensor, RPS. It uses eddy-current RPS technology, achieves an accuracy of 0.2° el. rms and supports maximum rotational speeds of 450,000 rpm.
The company positions automotive coils as one of its priority businesses and is bringing products to market that address automotive megatrends such as CASE. It announced that it had developed an automotive rotor position sensor (RPS).
Key features include eddy-current inductive technology, a lightweight and compact design, resistance to magnetic-field interference, high reliability under harsh conditions, differential-mode signal output, analog SIN/COS output, an integrated self-monitoring system, support for a wide range of pole-pair numbers and high-speed rotation capability. The product is a highly reliable automotive-grade product compliant with AEC-Q100/Q200 and ISO 26262 ASIL-C (D).
The coil structure was improved for the through-shaft type, which offers the highest accuracy in the all-around sensor lineup, and costs were reduced. It achieves an electrical-angle accuracy of 0.2° el. rms and supports maximum rotational speeds of up to 450,000 rpm. Applications include rotor position detection for synchronous motors and EV drive systems.
The company is expanding its lineup of automotive metal inductors, developing and bringing to market more than 20 new products ranging from 4 mm square to 22 mm square. All products comply with AEC-Q200, and the company also offers a diverse range of other automotive products, including gate power supply isolation transformers.
