In Afternoon Session Comments No. 6, six companies, including Isuzu Motors, Fuyo General Lease, Tokyo Ink, Daiichi Jitsugyo, Auto Wave and Topy Industries, made earnings-related announcements, including revisions to their full-year outlooks, share buybacks and dividend changes.
Isuzu Motors revised upward its pretax profit forecast for the first half of fiscal 2027, changed from the previous ¥260.0 billion to ¥270.0 billion. First-half pretax profit was ¥137.0 billion, up 16.7% year on year, reflecting improved earnings in light of market conditions. The company also established a share buyback authorization for up to 35 million shares or ¥50.0 billion. The purchase period is from 9 November 2026 to 31 March 2027, and the shares are expected to represent 5.1% of total shares outstanding if the maximum is reached. All shares acquired are scheduled to be cancelled.
Fuyo General Lease reported consolidated operating profit of ¥27.6 billion for the first half of fiscal 2027, 8.4 times the year-earlier level. The company said the result benefited from the absence of losses related to renewable energy projects in Europe. It left its full-year operating profit forecast unchanged at ¥70.0 billion, but selling pressure has prevailed in the stock amid a sense that the positive catalysts have been exhausted.
Tokyo Ink turned positive in the afternoon session and revised upward its full-year consolidated operating profit forecast for fiscal 2027, changed from the previous ¥2.70 billion to ¥3.65 billion. It cited limited effects from raw material prices and expanded sales of high-value-added products as factors behind the first-half result, and also announced a dividend increase. Its full-year dividend forecast was revised upward, changed from ¥95 to ¥115.
Daiichi Jitsugyo plunged in the afternoon session. Consolidated operating profit for the first half of fiscal 2027 was ¥3.98 billion, down 39.6% year on year, affected by a decline following the completion of major projects and higher selling, general and administrative expenses.
Auto Wave plunged in the afternoon session. First-half operating profit was ¥73 million, down 32.3% year on year. Although earnings from its automotive-related business improved, upfront costs associated with new openings of Gyomu Super stores weighed on results.
