Registrations by Chinese AI companies have surged in Singapore, with signs that they are seeking to dilute their national identity, while US companies are positioning the city as a base for developing the Southeast Asian market.
Artificial intelligence-related companies are concentrating in Singapore, and it has been pointed out that Chinese companies are seeking to dilute their national identity by relocating their headquarters functions and registered headquarters. Singapore is gaining recognition as a neutral base and has become one option amid the US-China rivalry for technological dominance.
According to reports by Japanese media, Singapore has become an attractive base for Chinese companies and is helping support their expansion there. US companies are also said to be establishing bases in Singapore to develop the Southeast Asian market.
One account says that 6,800 Chinese companies registered in Singapore over a one-year period, while related facilities, including local data center companies, are reportedly being developed with environmental considerations in mind.
The Jurong area is cited as an example, with companies such as DayOne Data Centers reportedly establishing bases in the surrounding industrial zone and advancing environmentally conscious business operations.
