GDEP Advance announced a strategic collaboration with Silicon Studio in the Physical AI field. While the collaboration aims to provide an end-to-end offering extending from AI computing environments through validation environments, the two companies’ short-term share price reactions differed substantially.
GDEP Advance has adopted a business model centered on GPU computing infrastructure that combines digital twins, synthetic data and Sim2Real technology to support researchers and companies from proof-of-concept through deployment.
On 25 August, GDEP Advance and Silicon Studio announced the launch of a strategic collaboration in the Physical AI field. By integrating the strengths of both companies, they aim to provide an end-to-end offering extending from “computing environments” to “validation environments for operating in the real world.”
The market reaction, however, was sharply contrasting. Comparing the closing prices on 25 August and 28 August, GDEP Advance rose approximately 9%, while Silicon Studio rose approximately 50%. This performance also reflected the company-specific catalyst of Silicon Studio’s announcement after the market close on the 27th that it would establish a Public Sector Business Promotion Office, leading some to argue that it is inappropriate to compare the two companies based solely on perceived undervaluation.
The focus going forward will be the extent to which the collaboration affects both companies’ existing businesses and whether they can expand into higher-value-added areas in response to growth in the AI market. In particular, how the companies overcome risk factors including their dependence on NVIDIA, inventory management and foreign exchange, and whether they can turn AI Factory and Physical AI opportunities into projects, are expected to directly affect business growth.
