WAT, which has extensive experience operating community cafés and designing spaces in municipal and public facilities, and Phil Company, which develops the aerial retail-space concept “Phil Park,” announced that they had entered into a capital and business alliance agreement. As background to the alliance, the companies stated their intention to combine their spatial-solution planning capabilities to develop projects that utilize underused spaces and create vibrancy in local communities.
Under the alliance, the companies plan to strengthen the acquisition of projects for municipalities and public facilities, jointly plan and operate café businesses, and strengthen tenant attraction capabilities, thereby promoting tenant attraction for Phil Park and enhancing the asset value of its properties. WAT said it would use its track record of working with municipalities to enhance its ability to propose projects for public spaces.
WAT cited its experience operating cafés and designing spaces in public facilities, including the museum cafés ENFUSE at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art and Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts, the library café ampere at libraries in Akishima and elsewhere, and a café in Setagaya Ward Office. These experiences are positioned as a driving force for public-space projects under the alliance.
