ABLIC, a MinebeaMitsumi affiliate, announced that it had improved a semiconductor for ultrasound diagnostic equipment to support higher voltages than previous products. It began providing samples to medical device manufacturers for use in compact devices and aims to begin full-scale mass production from 2028 onward.
According to a report by Nikkei, ABLIC improved its semiconductor for ultrasound examinations so that it can support higher voltages than previous products. This is expected to improve the imaging of internal tissues and fine blood flow.
The company supplies the semiconductor for both stationary and portable ultrasound diagnostic equipment, where it handles the transmission function, and began providing samples to medical device manufacturers on the 22nd.
Full-scale mass production of the improved product is expected from 2028 onward. ABLIC is advancing its development as a wholly owned subsidiary of MinebeaMitsumi.
ABLIC designs analog semiconductors that convert light and sound into electrical signals. The latest improvement represents an expansion of the company’s technology domain.
