The Ibaraki Prefecture tournament of Robot Ideas Koshien was held at Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, where 11 people who passed the first-round screening presented ideas including simulated plants, handwriting assistance and waste sorting. The event was hosted by the Japan Robot System Integrators Association, with the aim of deepening understanding of proposals, design and assembly for introducing robot-based mechanical systems.
The winner was Iwase Sakurachine (岩瀬 桜千音), a second-year student at Tsukuba Science High School, a prefectural school, who proposed a robot that enables users to experience growing plants in a simulated environment. Entries were judged from perspectives including robot specifications, economic impact, creativity, social value and feasibility.
The national tournament is scheduled to be held on 19 December at Kikai Shinko Kaikan in Minato Ward, Tokyo, and Iwase is expected to compete. Some participants developed new ideas for using robots based on a tour and lecture at Tsukuba Engineering.
