One year has passed since Niigata Prefecture launched an initiative providing a free menstrual-date prediction service as part of its fertility support efforts. During the period, the decline in pregnancy notifications narrowed, and the number of users reached approximately 30,000.
From fiscal 2025, Niigata Prefecture launched an initiative enabling residents to use a women’s health management support service free of charge, in cooperation with a company providing LunLun, which uses menstrual-date prediction and other features. The prefecture entered into an agreement with MTI and is providing the service free of charge.
One year after the initiative began, the decline in pregnancy notifications was found to have narrowed from previous levels. The decline last fiscal year was 2.83%, reportedly smaller than the 3.67%–8.99% decline in the same period of the previous year.
The service provides timing guidance based on the ovulation period and access to fertility information. From October 2025 through the end of October 2027, residents can use free of charge a service that normally costs approximately ¥400 per month. Approximately 30,000 people are using the service free of charge.
Users have reported that the service helped them understand their ovulation cycles and prompted them to resume fertility efforts. The prefecture’s Health Promotion Support Division commented that it views the results as a positive development that will help create an environment conducive to health management and preparing for pregnancy.
