Miwa Harimoto (張本美和) won the WTT Champions Yokohama women's singles title 4-2, achieving a sibling victory at the same tournament as her brother Tomokazu (張本智和). At one point, a Hello Kitty hair clip was used in place of Kuromi's hair clip, which had gone missing before the match, and she reached the summit with her new partner.
In the women's singles final, world No. 3 Miwa Harimoto (張本美和) defeated top seed Chen Xingtong (陳幸同) 4-2 to become the first Japanese women's player to win a second title at the tournament. This also gave her a sibling victory at the same tournament with her brother Tomokazu (張本智和), who was seeking to defend his title there.
A new “partner” also emerged behind the remarkable achievement. After reaching the quarterfinals on the 6th, Miwa used a My Melody hair clip as a “good-luck charm” on the 7th, when she had no match, but Kuromi's hair clip went missing that same day. Reports showed her spirits sinking during practice. In the quarterfinals, a black Hello Kitty hair clip stood in for it, and she defeated South Korean ace Shin Yubin (申裕斌) 4-1.
On the final day, the 9th, Miwa entered the final with Hello Kitty holding back her bangs in place of Kuromi, recording 3 consecutive wins including the semifinals and final. In the final, she defeated Wang (王) and, together with last year's champion Chen Xingtong (陳幸同), secured victory and reached the summit in front of Japanese fans. Miwa smiled after the win and said, “I made a new friend.”
