JetBlue Airways has released details of BlueFirst, its new first-class product for U.S. domestic flights, and expects to begin service in the latter half of the year. The product will be available on A220, A320 and A321 aircraft and will feature new amenities including Mixologist Mode.
JetBlue Airways has formally unveiled details of BlueFirst, its new first-class cabin. The airline plans to begin service in the latter half of the year. The new cabin will feature Bluetooth connectivity, more space, and enhanced dining and entertainment.
The cabin will be introduced on Airbus A220, A320 and A321 aircraft, and passengers will be able to order their preferred cocktails using Mixologist Mode on the seatback. Service is expected to begin in the latter half of the year, although the routes for the inaugural flights have not yet been disclosed.
BlueFirst will be available on "all routes where Mint, the business-class product, is not currently offered," according to the company. It is positioned as part of JetBlue's expansion of its premium cabins. The move is expected to further narrow the gap with competitors.
The company reported that second-quarter premium-service revenue per available seat mile rose 13% year on year, while Main Cabin revenue per available seat mile increased 11%. The shift toward premium routes is seen as one factor contributing to the recovery in revenue.
