PXP of Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, announced plans to build a mass-production plant for next-generation chalcopyrite solar cells. It is expected to receive approximately ¥160 million in support under the prefecture’s business-attraction measures, with operations scheduled to begin in fiscal 2027.
PXP announced that its mass-production plant for next-generation chalcopyrite solar cells, to be built in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, had been designated as a business-location support project under Kanagawa Prefecture’s “Select Kanagawa NEXT” initiative.
The plant is positioned as part of the decarbonisation-related industry and is scheduled to receive approximately ¥160 million in support through Kanagawa Prefecture’s business-location promotion subsidy. The mother plant under construction will have annual production capacity of 25 MW and will be PXP’s first mass-production plant.
Operations are scheduled to begin in fiscal 2027, and PXP aims to establish the technology and commercialise next-generation solar cells, including perovskite and chalcopyrite solar cells.
PXP has been developing next-generation solar cells as part of its research and development activities. The new plant is intended to strengthen its mass-production capabilities and expand its business in decarbonisation-related fields.
