Hiroshima Prefecture announced plans to consider selling the former site of Hiroshima Prefectural Hospital and to commission the private sector to develop specific proposals for its future use.
The prefecture is considering selling the land and buildings of the current Hiroshima Prefectural Hospital and plans to commission the private sector to develop and finalize proposals for the site's future use. The site covers approximately 25,325 square metres and contains 7 hospital buildings. The oldest, the North Wing, was completed in 1968, while the newest, the New East Wing, was completed in 2004.
The prefecture formulated a direction for the site's future use in 2023, setting out the development of a system providing access to local medical, nursing care and welfare services, as well as the enhancement of disaster preparedness. To refine proposals for the site's future use, it will solicit proposals, including methods for selling the land and buildings, through a public proposal process.
