To automate and reduce labor requirements in mountain tunnel construction, TAISEI CORPORATION has built a full-scale tunnel construction technology demonstration field within Atos Village in Shirakawa, Fukushima Prefecture. Demonstration testing of automated lining concrete placement is now under way.
TAISEI CORPORATION has established a full-scale tunnel construction technology demonstration field within Atos Village to accelerate technology development for mountain tunnel construction. The facility is 55 m long, 7.9 m high and 11.3 m wide, with a cross-sectional area of 68 m², based on a 2-lane road tunnel. It enables technologies to be tested under conditions equivalent to those at an actual construction site.
The demonstration field is designed with steel supports installed on the inner side and is notable for enabling lining concrete placement to be tested in a full-scale environment. It provides a safe setting for repeatedly testing technologies in the development stage.
Demonstration testing is currently under way to automate lining concrete placement. The company will evaluate constructability, placement conditions and work efficiency. It plans to continue developing technologies for full-scale implementation and testing other automation and labor-saving technologies.
Atos Village is a large-scale technology demonstration and training facility in Shirakawa, Fukushima Prefecture. It is used for demonstrations and training involving ICT construction and construction DX technologies.
