Mitsui O.S.K. Lines worked with Sharp and others on a project to donate and install 420 solar panels in Kenya. Multimodal transportation from Sharp’s Sakai warehouse in Osaka to a warehouse in Nairobi was provided free of charge, and environmental certificates were also issued locally.
A total of 420 Sharp solar panels were donated and installed in Tana River County, where temporary housing has been provided for flood victims, and Mandera County, an area affected by drought and conflict.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines provided free multimodal transportation by ship, rail and truck to the UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM), together with environmental attribute certificates. The panels were transported from Sharp’s Sakai warehouse to a warehouse in Nairobi.
A commemorative ceremony was held in Tana River County on 29 October. The power supply provided locally is expected to improve electricity access for approximately 130 households.
