Japan Kentucky Fried Chicken began sales on 14 October of the Original Chicken Burgers, a new standard menu item featuring refreshed recipes and preparation methods for the first time in 43 years. This is the first major renewal since the product was launched in 1983, with the aim of strengthening its position as a flagship menu item.
The new products feature chicken changed from the conventional breast meat to thigh meat, along with a redesigned preparation process covering the coating method, cooking method and sauces. The burgers are designed to deliver a substantial texture and juiciness.
The standard lineup comprises 4 varieties: Original Chicken Burger, Red Hot Sauce, Cheese and Teriyaki. Boneless Original Chicken is also available separately as an à la carte item.
A Premium version, Original Chicken Burgers Premium, has also been introduced with 2 varieties. The lineup includes the Premium Burger and Premium Cheeseburger, combining a special Original Sauce, thick-cut bacon and an omelet.
President Najima Atsushi (名嶋篤史) attended the launch event and outlined a growth strategy focused on expanding the menu, enhancing the in-store experience and strengthening the digital experience. He indicated that the company intends to develop chicken into a core business pillar alongside its flagship products.
