セキ substantially raised its full-year earnings forecast for the current fiscal year, from ¥235 million to ¥449 million. Ordinary profit for the cumulative second quarter turned profitable, while results for the latest three months also moved into the black. Ordinary profit is expected to increase year on year in the second-half outlook.
On 5 November, セキ announced in its earnings report that it had raised its consolidated ordinary profit forecast for the current fiscal year from ¥235 million to ¥449 million. The company had posted a loss in the same period a year earlier but returned to profitability, substantially improving its full-year plan. It said the revision reflected changes in the business environment, including recent earnings trends and expected order trends.
Consolidated ordinary profit for the cumulative second quarter, covering April to September, was ¥92 million in the black, compared with a ¥97 million loss in the same period a year earlier, marking a return to profitability. Results for the latest three months, July to September, showed ordinary profit of ¥62 million, with sales trends contributing to the return to profitability. This improved progress against both first-half results and the second-half plan.
Looking ahead, second-half ordinary profit is estimated at ¥357 million, approximately 24.8% higher year on year, bringing the full-year total within reach of the revised forecast of ¥449 million. The company also cited improving order trends and the sustainability of its earnings trends as factors behind the revision.
