Full-scale service has begun for a feature that allows customers who selected GMO Deferred Payment for their initial purchase to switch subsequent payments to credit card payment.
GMO Payment Service and GMO Payment Gateway launched the full-scale service for an optional GMO Deferred Payment feature on 26 August.
Subsequent purchases can be switched to credit card payment, allowing e-commerce operators to acquire new customers and encourage repeat purchases while retaining the convenience of deferred payment, which does not require card details to be entered.
Transactions after the switch are processed as credit card payments under the contracts held by the e-commerce operators. No GMO Deferred Payment processing fee is charged for recurring purchases, and the current rate applies.
Multiple e-commerce operators, including subscription-commerce businesses, had already begun using the service ahead of the launch, which proceeded after a stable service-delivery structure had been established.
