Pan Pacific International Holdings (PPIH), which continues to grow around Don Quijote, expanded its retail segment’s store network by making Olympic Group a wholly owned subsidiary in July 2026. In October, it also entered into a business transfer agreement for 日本トイザらス and became the sponsor of the business, aiming to expand its business domain by combining non-food and food operations.
Don Quijote originated in 1978 with the 18-tsubo general merchandise store “Thieves’ Market” in Nishi-Ogikubo, and has pursued customer-focused store layouts through dense product displays and extended operating hours. At the same time, it expanded its store network through the acquisitions of 長崎屋 in 2007 and ユニー in 2019, converting the stores into new formats such as MEGA Don Quijote UNY.
For the fiscal year ending June 2026, revenue reached ¥2.4453 trillion and operating profit reached ¥174.8 billion. The company continues its growth strategy by bringing established chains under its umbrella and combining its food and non-food divisions.
Going forward, the company is expected to seek to expand customer touchpoints by integrating the Robin Hood and Toys“R”Us businesses and leveraging its store network and fresh and non-fresh product offerings.
