On 23 August, SM Entertainment announced that Girls' Generation's new unit HyoRis (Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung) will release the digital single “Skibidi” on music streaming platforms at 6:00 p.m. on 31 August. The release consists of 2 tracks, the title track “Skibidi” and “Lowkey In Love.”
“Skibidi” is described as an eclectic dance track that begins with a house-influenced sound before moving into hip-hop, incorporating a sample of Arabian strings for an exotic feel. Its lyrics convey the message, “Let's create a new path of our own,” expressing HyoRis's distinctive energy.
“Lowkey In Love,” meanwhile, is a retro-mood dance-pop track featuring a light brass sound and rhythmic groove. Attention has focused on the fact that the legendary group, now in its 19th year since debut, has incorporated the latest trends rather than remaining within its established style.
The unit's bold concept has also been drawing attention, particularly its adoption of “Skibidi,” a keyword associated with Generation Z, as the title despite the group's long career.
