The Nikkei 225 rebounded for the first time in five sessions as rises in Japanese and U.S. long-term yields paused. In individual stocks, reports said buying was observed in Kioxia and SBG.
The Nikkei 225 rebounded after falling through the previous day, closing more than ¥800 higher than the previous session. Nikkei CNBC commentary provided a recap ahead of the next day's trading.
U.S. long-term yields fell to 4.76%, prompting views that there were signs of easing inflation. Meanwhile, the yen strengthened temporarily to the low ¥155s per dollar, reaching its strongest level in a month.
Among individual stocks, Nomura Holdings and Daiwa Securities updated their year-to-date highs, while construction equipment rental company Kanamoto indicated that net profit for November-July was expected to rise 39% to ¥10 billion. Some observers attributed this to growth in public- and private-sector investment.
Reports said investors were closely watching buying interest in Kioxia and SoftBank Group (SBG) as part of the day's market developments.
