Chubu Electric's new president Yasui visited Omaezaki, the city hosting the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, on his first day in office and apologised for the misconduct to date while explaining the company's policy on organisational reform.
Chubu Electric's new president, Yasui Minoru (安井 稔), who took office on 1 October, visited Omaezaki, Shizuoka Prefecture, where the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station is located, apologised to Mayor Shimomura for the series of misconduct incidents and outlined the company's policy on organisational reform. President Yasui (安井 稔) explained that the company would “fundamentally rebuild the organisation with determination, starting by changing management, in order to recover from the negative position.”
Regarding the safety screening application for the restart of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, Chubu Electric withdrew the application after former chairman Katsuno Satoshi (勝野 哲) and former president Hayashi Kingo (林 欣吾) resigned as of 30 September to take responsibility for data falsification and other issues. The company is now expected to give concrete form to organisational reforms and measures to prevent recurrence.
