Volvo announced plans to appoint Škoda CEO Klaus Zellmer to follow current president Håkan Samuelsson, with Zellmer set to take office in October 2027.
Volvo has nominated Škoda CEO Klaus Zellmer as its new CEO. Backed by a long career at Volkswagen Group and a track record as Škoda CEO, he will lead Volvo into a new era.
Zellmer currently serves as Škoda's CEO, having led the expansion of the company's EV lineup since 2022 and driven growth and higher earnings. Volvo's current CEO is Håkan Samuelsson, and views have emerged that his term will not be extended.
Volvo said Zellmer is scheduled to become president and CEO by 1 October 2027 and promised a smooth transition. Eric Li, president of Volvo's parent company Geely, said Zellmer's experience made him well suited to strengthening Volvo's position as a premium brand.
