European equities rose broadly on Saturday the 28th. The FTSE 100 closed 31.72 points above the previous day's close at 10,824.26, up 0.07% for the week.
Germany's DAX, the benchmark index of 40 leading stocks, rose 0.77%, while France's CAC 40 gained 0.98% and the STOXX Europe 600 rose 0.51%. Buying was reported in automobile-related and financial stocks, among others.
The gains were attributed in part to Federal Reserve Chair Warsh's indication at the Jackson Hole meeting that interest rates could be raised, as well as solid corporate earnings. Concerns over surging energy prices and stagnation in the French economy nevertheless remain.
