Chubu Electric Power’s IT division is redeveloping its integrated distribution operations support system, targeting a January 2027 release. The development team comprises approximately 500 people and will transition to new functions, including design operations at worksites.
With uninterrupted electricity supply at worksites as a prerequisite, Chubu Electric Power Group’s IT division has begun redeveloping its integrated distribution operations support system, designed for long-term use. Planning and review have been under way since 2021, with the aim of addressing issues in the existing system while centralising design and construction management at worksites.
The redevelopment is intended to prevent the system, which has been used for more than 20 years, from becoming increasingly complex and obsolete. By limiting information interconnection while promoting integration with other systems, the project aims to improve operational stability and flexibility. The January 2027 release is positioned as the first phase, with further incremental function additions to be considered.
The project is being advanced as a large-scale development involving multiple vendors, with an emphasis on collaboration between worksites and the IT division. It is working to cloud-enable design support functions in response to worksite requirements and introduce mechanisms that enable immediate on-site design, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and providing greater flexibility in staffing.
Looking ahead, the project will also consider AI analysis functions and the possibility of external deployment, with the aim of becoming a model case for systems development supporting not only the electricity business but also surrounding essential infrastructure.
