Mitsubishi Electric will strengthen its power and energy operations software business by making US-based PCI Energy Solutions a wholly owned subsidiary. The acquisition price is $1.4 billion, with completion targeted during 2026.
Mitsubishi Electric announced on 20 August that it would make PCI Energy Solutions, a US company specializing in power and energy operations software, a wholly owned subsidiary. The acquisition price is $1.4 billion (approximately ¥220 billion), with completion targeted during 2026. PCI was established in 1992 and is headquartered in Oklahoma, US.
PCI's consolidated revenue was $81.38 million (approximately ¥13 billion) for the fiscal year ended December 2025. PCI's platform is used for approximately 60% of power generation in the US, and the company says it has established a stable customer base and a growth-oriented revenue model built on its subscription-based business.
Mitsubishi Electric identified the smart energy field as a medium-term priority and outlined plans to integrate its energy management technology with PCI's energy optimization technology to provide end-to-end optimization solutions to customers including data centers, buildings and factories. The company has set a target of increasing revenue from its energy solutions business to ¥200 billion and its operating margin to 28% in fiscal 2030.
The company expects revenue of ¥100 billion and an operating margin of 16% in fiscal 2026, and aims to rapidly provide SaaS-based solutions by leveraging expertise in the Japanese and US power markets and its data platform.
