Nissan Motor announced that cumulative orders for the new Elgrand had reached 10,300 as of the 4th. Delivery takes 4 to 5 months, and waits are notably longer for the Otec and VIP versions, which account for a high proportion of orders for higher-end grades.
Nissan Motor disclosed that cumulative orders for the new Elgrand had reached 10,300 as of the 4th. Although no target has been disclosed, the company's Chief Marketing Manager Shibata analysed the order pace as steady, noting that customers are particularly likely to choose higher-end grades and expensive options. The company plans to use this performance in promotional activities on its website and through digital advertising.
By grade, G accounted for 57% of orders, Otec 14%, Otec Line and VIP 10% each, and the lower-priced X 9%, meaning the proportion of higher-end grades exceeded expectations. Mr Shibata attributed this to popular features such as ProPILOT 2.0 and Bose audio being offered on the G grade and above.
New customers accounted for 30% of orders, rising to 38% since launch. Trade-in vehicles were most commonly LL minivans, at 50%, with the previous-generation Elgrand accounting for half of them, while a certain number were replacements from the Alphard and Vellfire. Buyers were aged 40s 23%, 50s 31%, 60s 20% and 30s and under 13%, with men accounting for approximately 92%. Delivery takes 4 to 5 months overall.
In September sales by model name reported by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association, the Elgrand sold 1,568 units, 9.3 times the same month a year earlier, rising to 35th place for the month. If the order backlog is cleared, its ranking could potentially improve further.
