SAKE HUNDRED announced its new product Raika (来火) and held a media tasting event at Andaz Tokyo. The event showcased a sake jointly developed with a Sado brewery that combines dryness and complexity.
The launch event was held at the Andaz Tokyo Chef's Studio on 31 August 2026. In addition to introducing the brand and its new product, the event included an opportunity to experience how different serving vessels affect the taste, as well as a pairing session with a special menu.
Raika (来火), the new product, was developed as a regular offering intended to stand alongside the flagship Hyakuko (百光). It was described as aiming to combine dryness and complexity at a level comparable with premium alcoholic beverages worldwide. The bottle contains 720 milliliters and is priced at ¥22,000 including tax. The product information will be made public on 2 September, and the product is scheduled for release on 14 September.
The ingredients include Okayama-grown Yamada Nishiki for the koji rice and Sado-grown Koshihibuki for the brewing rice. Sado spring water from the Kinpokusan water system was used in the brewing process. The partner brewery is Tenryohai Shuzo of Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture.
The tasting event demonstrated the differences in flavor between serving the sake in a white wine glass and in a flat sake cup. Pairings with 3 dishes, including grilled crab, edamame terrine, pan-fried horse mackerel and grilled Tamba black chicken, were served to show how they brought out Raika’s fresh, verdant coolness and refined umami.
Ryushi Ikoma (生駒龍史), Representative Director of Clear Inc., said the company had completed a design that maintains a dry character while satisfying a diverse range of elements distinct from its previous sweet-focused approach. He stated that the company would present new value to luxury markets in Japan and overseas and promote global expansion.
