Kewpie announced that it will raise prices on 224 items, including mayonnaise, from shipments on 1 November. The increases will range from 3% to 25%, driven by higher packaging material and edible oil costs.
Kewpie announced that it will raise prices on a total of 224 household products from shipments on 1 November. The affected products include 113 condiments, such as mayonnaise and dressings; 30 prepared foods, such as pasta sauces; 32 food ingredients; and 49 care foods. The price of 450g mayonnaise will rise from ¥517 to ¥565 before tax. These will be the first price increases since September last year.
The increases are expected to range from approximately 3% to 25%, with the company citing soaring packaging material prices and higher costs, including edible oil. These factors are reportedly consistent with the impact of the situation in the Middle East and the upward trend in raw material and logistics costs.
