TOKYO PRINTING INK MFG.CO.,LTD. will exhibit at the Terraced Rice Field Summit to be held in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, on 14 November, introducing a slope restoration project at the Ubasute terraced rice fields and highlighting the need to reconcile landscape conservation with disaster recovery. The exhibition will feature actual construction examples and the method’s features.
TOKYO PRINTING INK MFG.CO.,LTD. will exhibit at the 31st National Terraced Rice Field Summit in Hamamatsu. In addition to introducing a slope restoration method designed to reconcile the conservation of terraced rice field landscapes with disaster recovery, the company will exchange information with terraced rice field stakeholders, local governments and agricultural professionals from across Japan.
The method being introduced includes a slope restoration project at the Ubasute terraced rice fields, which have been designated an Important Cultural Landscape. Its feature is that it is more readily harmonised with the surrounding landscape than conventional methods using stone materials. The method permits revegetation, and is expected to help preserve the area’s original landscape after disaster recovery work has been completed.
Other features include its applicability to steep slopes, the ability to bring materials into confined sites, and constructability without relying on skilled technicians. The method is expected to be used in preparation for torrential rain and landslide disasters. The exhibition booth will introduce actual construction examples and the method’s features, while also providing an opportunity to exchange information with local governments, community organisations and agricultural professionals.
Terraced rice fields are assets that support not only food production but also landscapes, biodiversity and local culture. TOKYO PRINTING INK MFG.CO.,LTD. will use its technology in the civil engineering materials sector to contribute to the preservation of regional resources and sustainable community development.
