A man in his 40s with a mental disability who formerly worked for リベルタス興産, a special subsidiary backed by major chemical manufacturer UBE Corporation, filed a lawsuit on the 21st with the Ube Branch of the Yamaguchi District Court, seeking approximately ¥5.6 million in damages for emotional distress. He alleges that harassment by his then-president and supervisors forced him to resign.
According to the complaint, the man joined the company in 2011. From around February 2023 to October 2024, he was subjected to harassment by the then-president and supervisors, including comments such as 'Why don't you quit?' and 'Coward,' and was prohibited from consulting third parties. His condition worsened and he ultimately resigned.
The plaintiff is seeking damages for emotional distress from リベルタス興産 and the former supervisors, alleging that he was forced to work while suffering from a mental disability. Court costs and the future proceedings will depend on the progress of the case.
