Construction has begun on the residential land development for the ASMACI Tagajo Development Project, which will make use of the former Tohoku Gakuin University Tagajo Campus site. A safety prayer ceremony was held beforehand at Tagajo Mutsu Sosha Shrine, attended by approximately 30 people involved in the project, who prayed for the safe completion of the construction and the success of the project.
The project is a large-scale public-private development promoted by Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, and will create a future-oriented town on the former university site. Condominiums for sale, housing, commercial and medical facilities, childcare support facilities, sports facilities, and other facilities will be developed in stages, with the aim of creating a regional hub.
The town development will focus on integrating preventive healthcare, job creation, and the living environment. Disaster preparedness functions will also be strengthened through measures including the undergrounding of utility lines, securing energy supplies in emergencies, and expanding stockpiles. The project will be advanced in coordination with the sports and wellness facilities development project and in an integrated manner with public-sector facilities.
The planned site is Chuo 1-chome 14-1 and 5 other parcels, Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture. The site covers approximately 114,660 square metres, and the construction period is expected to run from October 2026 to the end of 2030. The project is led by ミサワホーム株式会社 and 東北ミサワホーム株式会社, and the facilities will include housing, commercial and medical facilities, childcare support facilities, sports facilities, and other uses.
