Mitsubishi Electric has released a reference design integrating AI data-center power and cooling. The liquid-cooling-centered configuration marks progress on a new initiative for Japanese companies to offer an integrated solution. It was covered in a special feature on overseas and domestic requirements over a two-week period.
Mitsubishi Electric published its data-center solutions website on 30 September, presenting an integrated proposal covering power, cooling, monitoring and control. It also presented design elements leading to a reference design compatible with NVIDIA GPUs.
In this project, overall optimization of a configuration premised on liquid cooling was prioritized. Emphasis was placed not only on cooling capacity but also on preparing the deployment process, including rack configuration, power supply, connectivity and the start of on-site operations.
Alongside examples from overseas data centers and the AI-server market, the report presented the view that practical considerations such as how many racks of NVIDIA systems to operate stably and from when will be central to management decisions.
Meanwhile, developments in the sector have included collaboration and competition among related companies such as Dell, Schneider Electric and Vertiv, and developments in Japan and overseas may affect one another.
