Sportsnavi has begun offering AI Baseball Commentary (beta), a new feature that provides real-time AI commentary on highlights during games in line with the opening of the professional baseball Climax Series. Expansion to other sports is also under consideration.
LINE Yahoo's Sportsnavi has begun offering the new "AI Baseball Commentary (beta)" feature on its professional baseball game detail pages. Introduced to coincide with the start of the Climax Series, the feature enables users to enjoy AI-generated commentary in real time while watching games. Based on game data, the AI provides commentary on key moments and is expected to enrich the viewing experience.
The highlight commentary presents key points based on the current situation, player statistics and head-to-head records at moments such as when a batter enters the box, a pitcher is changed or an inning ends. It is intended to make it easier for viewers with limited baseball knowledge to understand why a particular at-bat is important.
Short AI-generated commentary on highlights is displayed on the game detail page. Tapping it displays more detailed commentary and related data, such as player profiles and head-to-head records. The design also takes viewing into account, providing information without obstructing the page.
Expansion to other sports, including MLB and the J.League, is under consideration. The company plans to expand the quality and volume of commentary and data through the use of generative AI. The AI commentary feature will continue to evolve with the aim of enhancing the viewing experience.
