According to Reuters, reporting from Hong Kong, Citi's head of international said investment in the United States by companies from East Asian countries is expected to continue expanding. The investment is expected to proceed in multiple stages, driven by the reconfiguration of global supply chains.
Specific examples cited included Citi and JPMorgan providing financing for US-related projects by Japanese companies, and the White House releasing the first tranche of Seoul's US$350 billion strategic package. These developments are viewed as factors supporting US investment.
Cantu explained that the investment could be compared with the compounding expansion of capital expenditure, continuing to grow through stages including land acquisition, plant construction and day-to-day operations.
