At the RaMS Fluorocarbon Management DX Forum hosted by JRECO, the RaMS Case Study Awards were presented for the first time, with Denka receiving the Grand Prize and 5 companies including ANA Holdings receiving Excellence Awards. RaMS is a cloud-based management system established under the Act on Rationalizing Fluorocarbons Emissions, enacted in 2015.
The RaMS Case Study Awards were held for the first time to recognize initiatives by business sites that have introduced and use RaMS. Denka presented a system that enables management to continue even when the personnel in charge change, through coordination between the head office and worksites, and reported that approximately 6,400 units of equipment are managed with RaMS at 8 business sites. Operations are managed at 3 levels: the worksite, business site and head office.
ANA Holdings introduced RaMS simultaneously at 15 group companies, while pointing to the continuing issue of paper-based management, and explained that it had promoted internal awareness of the system as an opportunity to recognize efforts at worksites. Japan Freight Railway, Sekisui Chemical, Sekisui Jushi and Asahi Kasei also received awards, while Hokuriku Electric Power Biz Energy Solution and Kanazawa Medical University were selected for Encouragement Awards.
The Ministry of the Environment indicated a policy of submitting a bill to revise the Act on Rationalizing Fluorocarbons Emissions to the 2027 ordinary session of the Diet, and said it would consider strengthening the reporting framework for leakage volumes and promoting recovery and reclamation. JRECO proposed digital transformation through RaMS and an equipment renewal strategy, and outlined the reduction targets for HFCs and the challenges involved in future refrigerant conversion. In light of these points, planned renewal and stable operations using accumulated data from worksites were considered important.
