The North Satellite facility at Haneda Airport Terminal 1 opened on 1 September 2026. The 3-story facility has a total floor area of 21,000 square meters, features a hybrid steel-and-timber structure, and includes Japan's longest jet bridge at Gate 29.
The North Satellite facility at Haneda Airport Terminal 1 opened on 1 September 2026. The facility has approximately 21,000 square meters of total floor area and 3 above-ground floors. The second floor includes a children's area, concourse, FOREST LOUNGE and 6 fixed-bridge stands serving Gates 24–29, reducing the burden on passengers before boarding by eliminating the need for bus transfers.
The first flight, JL565 to Memanbetsu, departed on the same day.
The facility's main feature is its hybrid steel-and-timber structure, with a steel-framed first floor and timber construction on the second floor and above. Approximately 1,800 square meters' worth of Japanese-grown larch and cedar is used in the structural materials, equivalent to approximately 10,000 trees. In addition to helping reduce CO2 emissions and promote the sustainable circulation of forest resources, the connecting passageways incorporate scents designed to evoke a forest.
Passengers can board without taking a bus at Gates 26–29 in the North Satellite, but the walking distance to the gates is longer. According to JAL, the distance to the far end is 1,068 meters from Checkpoint E, or approximately 16 minutes on foot, and 968 meters from Checkpoint F, or approximately 15 minutes. Accordingly, JAL and Skymark, which use the area, will change the domestic-flight baggage drop-off deadline to 30 minutes before departure.
