Hokuriku Electric Power posts a YouTube video every week in which its president introduces the company’s initiatives, while a machinery manufacturer in Ishikawa uses videos featuring its president to highlight its products. Companies are increasingly using video to appeal to younger generations and strengthen recruitment.
An increasing number of companies in Hokuriku are using social media to communicate the nature and appeal of their businesses through their top executives. Hokuriku Electric Power posts weekly videos in which its president mainly introduces initiatives in Japan and overseas, while a machinery manufacturer in Ishikawa promotes its signature machine tools.
Hokuriku Electric Power’s “Kōjīzu Café” channel has posted videos ranging from about 1.5 to 5 minutes since it began posting last July, bringing the total number of videos to 66 (as of 24 September). The president films and speaks in the videos himself, without a script, discussing topics as they come to mind.
Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry President Nakamura Shogo (中村 匠吾) also appears on YouTube, introducing the features and performance of the company’s multitasking machines under the nickname “Marusan.” In a promotional video for a new product, he delivers an animated presentation wearing a helmet, personally promoting the product.
The trend toward seeking alternatives to face-to-face promotion and strengthening video-based PR since the COVID-19 pandemic is also expected to help promote recruitment.
Companies may continue to use the communication skills of their presidents to convey the appeal of their products and expand their reach among younger audiences.
