Dai Nippon Printing has invested in JCCL to accelerate the development and practical implementation of membrane-based CO₂ separation and capture technology. The parties aim to develop a demonstration unit in fiscal 2028, scale it up and pursue deployment through forms.
Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) announced that it invested in JCCL Co., Ltd. on 31 July 2026 and will promote the development and commercialization of membrane-based CO₂ separation and capture technology for combustion gases as a strategic partner. The two companies aim to achieve practical implementation by combining their respective technologies and expertise.
As part of the collaboration, DNP will form the material developed by JCCL, which selectively allows CO₂ to permeate, into thin films and modules. Using DNP’s evaluation and analysis technologies, as well as its production equipment design and manufacturing technologies, the companies will develop capture equipment suited to the characteristics of exhaust gases. They will optimize performance through demonstration testing. The equipment is also planned for use in reducing GHG emissions from the DNP Group, with the resulting expertise to be applied to business development.
As part of their future plans, DNP and JCCL aim to develop a demonstration unit for CO₂ separation and capture equipment by fiscal 2028, then scale up the equipment and introduce it at manufacturing sites operated by the DNP Group. Through demonstration and use of the equipment, the companies aim to accumulate technical and operational expertise, expand the technology to external companies and realize circular services, including the utilization of CO₂.
