The Tokyo stock market rebounded in the morning session on 10 August, with the Nikkei 225 ending trading sharply higher than on the previous business day. Buying spread mainly across AI and semiconductor-related stocks, following buying of technology stocks in the US market.
Against this backdrop, buying prevailed among game and entertainment-related stocks. GREE Holdings and GungHo were bought, while CyberAgent and FURYU were sold. Among the major stocks, Sega Sammy Holdings, Sony Group, Nintendo, Bandai Namco Holdings, Konami Group, Square Enix Holdings, Capcom and Koei Tecmo Holdings were bought.
Broad movements were also seen across categories including mobile-related, anime and video-related, and hobby and leisure-related stocks. While CyberAgent’s decline was a notable factor in the market, buying of GREE Holdings and GungHo separated the winners from the losers. Trading value and the impact of individual earnings announcements varied by stock.
