IID,Inc. will hold an online seminar on 8 December examining how Japan’s BEV market differs from those of other countries, with comparisons with an overview of the global BEV market. The speaker will be Kobayashi Hiroshi (小林 浩), a specially appointed research fellow at the company, and viewing instructions are scheduled to be distributed on the day before the seminar.
The seminar will examine the current state and future direction of Japan’s BEV market from multiple perspectives, using China, Germany and Thailand as comparison countries. It will also discuss the positions of Tesla and BYD in each country, user choices between BEVs and PHEVs, and barriers to the shift from ICE/HEVs to BEVs.
Past seminars have examined the characteristics of Japan’s BEV market using quantitative data and firsthand accounts. They have presented data showing that Japan’s cumulative BEV share in 2026 was 3.1%, a low level compared with other countries. Against this backdrop, the seminar is structured to explore the factors behind Japan’s growth.
The online seminar will be streamed live via Microsoft Teams, and questions will be accepted online. The application deadline is 12:00 noon on 4 December, and the standard participation fee is ¥24,750 (including tax), according to the notice.
