As the yen weakened, the Australian dollar-yen and New Zealand dollar-yen rose against the yen. Australian dollar-yen at one point moved toward ¥111, rising from around ¥109.30 in the morning to the ¥110 range, while New Zealand dollar-yen reached ¥89.07 from the ¥88.60 range.
Oceania currencies have remained steady against the dollar, while yen weakness has dominated against the yen. The Australian dollar rose just under ¥1.0 from around ¥109.30 in the morning to the ¥110 range, reaching ¥1.1007. The New Zealand dollar has risen from the ¥88.60 range to ¥89.07.
Although the main opinions from the BOJ monetary policy meeting suggested an additional rate hike, there was no stronger stance toward aggressive hikes, and comments from the government and Cabinet Office were also interpreted as discouraging rate hikes. This is said to have prompted yen selling.
