Geekplus introduced the shelf-transport robot “EVE” at the East Tokyo Branch of Nippon Express NEC Logistics in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo. The facility handles shipments for B2B and B2C customers and decided to adopt a GTP (Goods to Person) system in response to increased shipment volumes.
Following the introduction, “EVE” transports shelves to workstations, reducing the burden on workers of walking around the warehouse and enabling stable operations even when personnel in charge change. The facility can now handle the same shipment volume with half the staff previously required, which has also contributed to standardizing operations.
For the introduction, the Nippon Express NEC Logistics site and DX departments worked together to select the equipment and develop work procedures and training methods. Under conditions that required avoiding major warehouse renovations, the company chose EVE with a focus on ease of future expansion and relocation.
Going forward, the company will review storage methods based on product weight and dimensions, with the aim of expanding the range of covered products and making further use of the equipment.
