Chubu Electric Power’s new president, Yasui Minoru (安井 稔), held an inaugural press conference in Nagoya and outlined a policy of making fundamental organizational restructuring the top priority, along with the future treatment of the Hamaoka nuclear power plant and plans for organizational development.
At his inaugural press conference, new president Yasui Minoru (安井 稔) identified organizational restructuring as the top priority, announcing the establishment of an Organizational Culture Promotion Headquarters and a policy of bringing in external personnel for the nuclear power division. He expressed a strong determination to regain the trust of local communities and society through actions and results.
Regarding the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, he said that the Shizuoka Regional Headquarters had been established and that functions were being strengthened to enable a prompt response to the views of the local community. He declined to specify at this stage when the company would apply to restart operations, saying that restoring trust was the top priority.
Regarding the vacant chairman position, he explained that the company was also considering appointing someone from outside and hoped to decide by the next general meeting of shareholders.
Having lost trust following the falsification of earthquake-shaking data, the company is expected to continue efforts to overhaul its corporate culture and regain trust under the new structure.
