KAMEDA SEIKA announced that it would transfer 49% of the shares of its Indian joint venture KLT to LT Foods and withdraw from the Indian business. As it pursues a North America-focused growth strategy, it chose to transfer rather than continue operating the joint venture, which had fallen into a negative net worth position.
On 16 September 2026, KAMEDA SEIKA announced that it would transfer 49% of the shares of its Indian joint venture, KAMEDA LT FOODS (INDIA) PRIVATE LIMITED (KLT), to LT Foods. The transfer is scheduled to be completed in late October, and KAMEDA SEIKA will withdraw from its Indian rice cracker business, which has continued for approximately 9.5 years. LT Foods is a major Indian rice company, and KLT's business is expected to continue under LT Foods after the transfer. The news describes the policy as an exit through the sale of KLT. Looking ahead, this is viewed as part of a shift toward prioritizing the growth strategy in the North American market.
However, KLT fell into a negative net worth position in the fiscal year ended March 2026, recording a net loss of approximately 121.11 million rupees, equivalent to approximately ¥200 million. Although revenue increased, it was not enough to absorb the heavy fixed-cost burden, making deterioration in the capital structure unavoidable. Against this backdrop, a share transfer was chosen as the exit strategy. The transfer consideration was 11.2 million rupees, and the impact on consolidated results was described as immaterial.
