SHIFT and Tokyo Gas have reached a basic agreement to establish the jointly funded SGC-TG1 Investment Limited Partnership for investment in and growth support for domestic IT companies. The fund will have total capital of ¥15 billion, with Tokyo Gas scheduled to hold 66.7% and SHIFT and SGC 33.3% each.
The fund is scheduled to be formed on 1 December 2026, with a 7-year investment term, including an investment period of 3 years. Its targets are expected to include domestic systems integrators and companies providing system engineering services, with investment focused on companies with high growth potential.
A feature of the fund is that both companies will directly commit resources to supporting portfolio companies. Tokyo Gas will provide its manufacturing-industry customer base and expertise in facility operations, while SHIFT will draw on its expertise in post-merger integration and growth support.
Through cross-industry collaboration, the two companies aim to advance the restructuring of the IT industry and digital transformation while strengthening the competitiveness and productivity of Japanese industry as a whole.
