NTN CORPORATION announced that it would begin accepting orders for sensor-equipped bearing units for machine-tool spindles. It plans to pursue orders in conjunction with JIMTOF2026, with temperature, vibration and load sensors integrated into the spindle to enable real-time monitoring.
On 20 October, NTN CORPORATION announced that it would begin accepting orders for a sensor-equipped bearing unit for machine-tool spindles capable of measuring temperature, vibration and load inside a machine tool's spindle.
The product incorporates sensors into a ring-shaped component adjacent to the spindle bearing to monitor the bearing and machining conditions in real time. Compared with conventional external-spindle sensor systems, it is said to enable more precise condition monitoring, and is intended for installation in machining centers, lathes and multitasking machines.
Order-taking activities will begin in conjunction with the company's participation in JIMTOF2026, the Japan International Machine Tool Fair. The stated aim is to support smart-factory development and productivity improvements at manufacturing sites.
The report also stated that the broader market was weak on the same day and that the share price declined.
