President Trump announced an investment of approximately $5.6 billion in Hyundai TRANSYS's expansion plan in West Point, Georgia. The project is expected to modernise the equipment at Plants 1 and 2, build a new Plant 3 and create 320 new jobs.
U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed at a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, that Hyundai TRANSYS, a Hyundai Motor Group company, would invest approximately $560 million in expanding its plant in West Point. The investment is expected to expand local production capacity and create jobs.
The plan calls for modernising the equipment at West Point Plants 1 and 2 and constructing a new Plant 3, with a focus on increasing production capacity for electrified powertrains for hybrid vehicles. The new facility is intended to expand the foundation for electrification components rather than serve as an EV-only facility. Hyundai TRANSYS plans to hire additional personnel for its management, administrative and production divisions.
The Georgia governor's office announced that the expansion would create 320 new jobs. Approximately 1,250 people are already employed at the West Point site, and Kia also operates a plant nearby. Georgia has highlighted the investment by Hyundai Motor Group and related parts companies.
As an automotive parts manufacturer, Hyundai TRANSYS operates 32 facilities in 10 countries worldwide and produces electrified powertrains and seat systems. The West Point investment is positioned as part of an expansion of production capacity to support automotive customers in North America.
