A model house for the wooden homes developed by Ryohin Keikaku’s housing subsidiary MUJI HOUSE has been unveiled in a residential area of Chofu. A distinctive feature is the incorporation of MUJI’s design philosophy into residential housing.
Ryohin Keikaku, which operates MUJI, has expanded beyond retail into businesses including residential construction and hotel operations. The wooden-house model introduced here is a full-scale example of the custom-built “Wooden House” sold by its housing subsidiary MUJI HOUSE.
The model house is located in a residential area approximately 20 minutes on foot from Chofu Station on the Keio Line and features a box-shaped design finished primarily in silver. Visitors can experience a space embodying MUJI’s philosophy.
As suggested by descriptions such as “design that is not design for its own sake” and “a house like a blank canvas,” MUJI’s design philosophy has also been incorporated into the homes’ design concept, with the aim of creating housing that supports the way people live.
