In the Tokyo market on the afternoon of the 14th, dollar-yen recovered from the ¥153 range into the ¥154 range. With the US 10-year Treasury yield also edging higher ahead of this week’s FOMC meeting, market conditions favored buying back the dollar.
In the Tokyo foreign exchange market on the afternoon of the 14th, dollar-yen recovered from the ¥153 range into the ¥154 range. The slight rise in the US 10-year Treasury yield appeared to support dollar buying.
US consumer price index (CPI) data was broadly in line with market expectations, but expectations for an FOMC rate hike have risen above 80%, creating market conditions unfavorable to selling the dollar.
With important events ahead this week, movements in euro-yen and euro-dollar have been limited.
Trading ranges were reported at ¥153.37-154.14 for dollar-yen, ¥177.85-178.46 for euro-yen, and 1.1565-1.1596 for euro-dollar.
